Privacy Policy

There is no account to create in Vedansh. What you read, count and keep is saved on your phone.

Information we collect

Vedansh has no sign-up and no login, so nothing you do in the app is attached to a name, an email address or an account.

Location

Location access is optional and, when granted, is used only while you are using the app, to compute accurate sunrise, sunset and Panchang timings for where you are. Your coordinates are processed on your device only and are never transmitted or stored off it. If you decline location, a manual city picker (Ujjain by default) gives you the same functionality.

Notifications and alarms

Daily reminders and japam alarms are scheduled locally on your device. If you allow notifications, the system creates a notification token for this installation. On Android, the app asks for exact-alarm and start-on-boot permissions purely so a japam alarm you set still fires at the right minute after a restart.

Audio and microphone

The app plays mantras, aartis and bhajans, including in the background, from audio bundled inside the app. It does not use the microphone and does not record anything.

Data stored on your device

Your preferences, bookmarks, reading progress, routines, Sankalp programmes, japam counts and streaks are saved in local storage on your device so the app remembers your place. This data never leaves your device, is never backed up to us, and is removed when you delete the app.

App updates

So that improvements can reach you without waiting for a store release, the app checks for updates from Expo's update service (u.expo.dev). That check carries only what any network request carries — your IP address, the app version and the platform — and no personal data, no identifier we control, and nothing about your practice.

This website

vedansh.app keeps a count of visits to each page, so it is possible to see the site is being read. The count is a number and nothing more — no IP address, browser details, cookie or identifier of any kind is stored with it.

Children's privacy

Vedansh has no sign-up, so it does not ask a child — or anyone else — for a name, an email address or an account.

Third parties

The App Store and Google Play collect their own download and crash statistics under their own policies, which we cannot see at an individual level.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, this page is updated and the date above is revised.
